Morgan Rogers

Completely gone unnoticed how shit he has been for the second half of the season. Most villa fans have wanted him dropped for months, most villa fans want to cash in on him. He's a good player that's had a purple patch, he's not an elite player and we have an abundance of options in that area.

Selling him was a mistake but he ain't worth what Villa would want for him in a million years.
Not sure if it was a mistake.
He has progressed very well.
I doubt anyone envisaged him being this good.
You have to be both lucky as well as good to get promoted to our first team.
In the semi finals of this year's FA cup , there were twelve players that came through our academy that made it on to the pitch.
All making a good living.

3 more league goals than Foden in 14 more starts. Not sure he'd be worth the £100m+ that Villa would want.

Yeah; I understand the need to rebuild the squad. But do we actually need him?

Personally, I think he's similar to Nunes in that he's great with space to run into and that's where Rogers' is at his best too, but I think we need someone a bit more technical who excels in tight spaces and I just don't think he is what we need. Not to mention the amount it would cost.

If the Villa fans are anything like their board then we'd get absolutely fleeced!

Yeah. Not for me IMO. Though I do think he’s good in tight spaces but not sure he’s consistent enough for me.

Could be pure ignorance that, though, but so often I watch Villa and he drifts in and out of games. We have enough of those type of attackers.

Rogers is a decent/good PL player, who is also homegrown + club trained (I think?) which helps with registration.
However, I dont think he is really an improvement on anything we already have in his position and he would cost loads of money so I dont really see why we would go for him.

4 goals and 4 assists since mid April though, so not the complete second half of the season.

Averaged a goal or assist every 178 minutes in the league since the start of 24/25. Foden in the same period has one every 184 minutes. So Phil, in a period where he's been largely rubbish still produces at pretty much the same rate as Rogers has during the best spell of his career. I suppose it shows how much more scrutiny players get when they play for a side in the 'big 6'.

Does he get into the PSG XI? Or Real Madrid? No. Don’t lower the standards.
And that is it in a nutshell. We have plenty of players who would already. if you put our entire squad up for sale, Haaland, Cherki, Rodri, Gvardiol, O'Reilly, Khusanov, Donnarumma would all be heading to teams at the top of the world game.

However like most teams including PSG there are always players just below that level, albeit not many in their case, but Madrid and Barca definitely. We have a few, Foden, Doku, Semenyo, Nunes, Guehi. So we are in a pretty good place. Does Anderson get in our side? Definitely. It is reasonable to expect improvement in quite a lot of our players as they are very young. So not sure we need too many new faces.

Watched him at Boro and he was naff, they couldn’t believe what they got for him after very little time and few good performances and that’s a pittance compared to what he’ll go for if Villa sell this summer.

Do think he’s a good player but not City level or a good fit stylistically and definitely overhyped/priced on account of being English.
