Morgan Rogers

Don't really get the obsession with Morgan Rogers. He is a good player, but would he be as good in a possession based side playing against low blocks every week? I doubt it.

Villa don't have anywhere near as much possession as we do so he is perfect for their system. His strength is driving into space with the ball when his team are in transition.

I was speaking to a Villa fan a few weeks back and he said that Morgan Rogers blow cold more than he blows hot and that is from someone that watches him week in week out.

I'd much rather we went for a player like Ibrahim Maza that is technically more gifted and has a better football brain... and is more adaptable to playing against a low block.

I'd rather Cole Palmer than Morgan Rogers (even though it is not going to happen).

One can never tell. Chelsea are highly volatile, and another disappointing finish will inevitably see questions asked about everyone, Palmer included. We have Cherki and Foden for now, thankfully.

Had a purple patch early in the season and he scored some great goals. Villa then fell off a cliff in the second part of the season and he became quite anonymous

It will do, but I watched both of these players in the academy and Palmer was head and shoulders above Rogers.

Arsenal are being strongly linked to him too.

Villa are still in a settlement agreement with UEFA with a deficit target for 26-27.
  • A €0m limit for the 2026/27 season.
Clubs and the media will know this.

Stefan thinks they have to sell as they are going to breach PSR again
Google Villa-UEFA settlement agreement.

Chelsea are also in a similar arrangement.

Google search results suggest that Villa will have to show a nil transfer deficit in the coming season. So as they prepare for a new PL and CL season, they are going to have to sell to buy or loan with future obligation to buy.

I think he's a magnificent player and one I'd happily enjoy being back in a City shirt but not sure it makes sense atm given the squad issues atm

He's best off the left which is Dokus prefered position, and Maresca relies on his wingers being able to win 1v1 against a full back which screams Doku more than it does Rogers who could struggle against a low block

So does he play as one of the two #8's Maresca likes, again we have Phil and Cherki (and Anderson?) Who can play that role

The need is more a pacey right winger especially if as expects Savinho leaves as expected

But the market is pretty dire right now, not a lot of world class wingers

But I just can't see him being worth the £100mil that Villa wants, he seems far more suited to Arsenal and they have a clear need for him
