I've never really understood the obsession with attendances. I'll be there tonight and am looking forward to it, but I don't care how many others turn up. If people choose not to go, that's their prerogative.

I'll give you a wave Ric, are you bringing the toffee apples and the treacle toffee? I love treacle toffee. ;-)

p.s. what I really mean is, I agree with you 100%, what does it matter who turns up, the ones that do will enjoy the match, cheer on our fantastic team, keep warm by applauding every little pass, and that is the main thing.

How much were Villarreal tickets a couple of years ago? I can't remember them being any cheaper than today and we got 42,326 for that game, even though they brought 17 fans.

It is of the utmost importance for supporters to make the effort to attend this game. The whole strategy of the club is to achieve success in the Champions League first, followed secondly by success in the EPL. This is what Sheikh Mansour wants, and I would think our major players want that too. So much of our need to meet the requirements of FFP comes through this competition, and the ego of the players who wish to be 'seen' in their own attempts to guarantee a place at International level means that they will only stay at a club that takes this competition seriously. If fans can't be bothered, preferring to watch a few fireworks instead of backing the club, what sort of message is that sending out? When we read of rumours linking "the £40m rated" Sergio Aguero with a move to Barca, then a half hearted approach to the competition by some of our fans isn't going to help. I think these valuations are a load of cobblers, but the danger is that players like Kun would push for a move to a major club that takes European success seriously.

Comes close but just stops short of a good old fashioned "I bet The Sheikh wonders why he bothers", but takes an interesting "I bet Sergio wonders why he bothers".

Give over mate. It's just a fucking crowd.

I have never heard bonfire night referred to as bommie night before. Is this a north Manchester thing like muffins and six fingers?

Just had a wander round the football museum before catching my train home. Full of CSKA fans in there, and a load of Dutch fans/players
