My brother lived and worked there for about 4 years and absolutely loved it, he said it was very efficient the people were warm and friendly and it wasn't that expensive to live there.

He only moved about 18 months ago and may be going back so it must have been good. He now lives in France......... I definitely did something wrong, I'm the poorest one in my family........... but then again I am the richest in that I support the best team in the land in all the world whereas they all support the quiet neighbours across the road!!! :-)

I bet there aren't any Glass Bridges in Moscow or France. You did well. ;o)

That's true Citykev28, plus I am always a glass half full person as well. :-)

Went there and St Petersburg to celebrate our tenth anniversary. Moscow is a fascinating place although I wouldn't stray too far from the obvious Red Square and Kremlin areas. Turning into Red Square at dusk and seeing St Basil's Cathedral for the first time is something I'll never forget. The big former state department store is GUM and now contains really expensive designer stores, out of the reach of many Muscovites (and us). Seeing Lenin's embalmed body (some say it's wax) is incredible and the graves of other leading political figures around the back of the mausoleum are well worth a visit. The Bolshoi has been renovated as well and an opera or ballet there will be much cheaper than the Mariinsky in St Petersburg. We stayed for four nights - did some shopping and eating in the Arabat district (Pushkin's house is here) but generally stayed in the central areas. We got upgraded to the Metropol Hotel near Red Square - one of the best I've ever stayed in. Gorky park is vast and well worth a visit but the city is ridiculously expensive - tourists pay more and queue longer for access to places like the Kremlin. A lot of the food is disappointing, but Georgian and Caususus food was lovely.
The visa issue is a bit of a nuisance but overall I'd say go for it.
