I never knew the Pope visited Heaton Park in 1981. Maybe it was a reconnaissance visit for his more famous 1982 visit at which I had the honour to be an ice-cream seller. Never met the great man though.

The most famous person I ever met was Muhammad Ali. He visited Stretford Arndale Centre to advertise Ovaltine in about 1971 and I was there.

my mate was in florida last week and played golf at i think it was a ray floyd course when 4 black guys (very polite and well dressed) asked if they could play through.when he got back to the club house they came up to him and his group and thanked them again and had a chat it was michael jordon and chris rock with there bouncers awsome golfers btw

Hilarious. I camped out in Heaton Park aged about 7 when the Pope saying mass the next day, didnt see him at all , he whizzed past in the pope mobile but I never saw a thing. Still remember it being really exciting at the time though.
