The Scottish Wildcat. Still the only mammal on the Brtish Isles ,that has never been tamed. Numbers are in serious decline now. And inter breeding with domestic / semi feral cats have produced almost a whole new species..
The true Scottish Wildcat, as captured in Art by Archibald Thorbourn who in my opinion is the greatest Wildlife artist ever...is an incredibly ferocious animal....the kits from birth are wild enough to take a humans eye out.
Not sure how many there left of this truly wild predator up in the Highlands of Scotland...living free.untamed by Man...it's only real threat.
Once common overall of the Forests of this country ...slowly decimated,and retreated to the Highlands...
