Most open Champions League for a decade?

I agree with the OP, there is no one team who stands out as being 'the best'.

Anyone could win it, including us.

I actually think Chelsea will win it. Their style is designed for the CL.
As SC points out above, it largely depends on who draws whom. We're best suited to counter a particular type of team. I'd fancy us more against the likes of Barca or Bayern than Atletico. In fact I'd trade draws with you if it were possible. I do agree that this one is hard to call. We don't have that dominant side slaughtering all-comers of previous years. The usual suspects are all there, but all have their vulnerabilities and we have a good share of dark horses (City included IMO). It makes for an interesting tournament.

Obviously it will all come down to the draw but I agree there is no real stand out favourite beyond the usual which team has the biggest collection of the best players in the world. I'm sure the world really wants to see a Barcelona-Madrid final which has been on the cards for years. Lets hope not for our sake. If we can beat Barcelona I think that is a real statement that we are big contenders to go all the way.

I think Bayern are favorites, followed by Real who are in poor form right now and Barca.

Then there's teams like PSG, Chelsea and Atletico.

No one really expects us to go all the way but they would have dreaded going against us. I think once we're in better form and we've successfully gotten past the barca hurdle we'll shake things up.

We couldn't be in much worse form, so barring a miracle, or an unexpected transformation by the dynamic duo on their return from ACON, that Barca hurdle currently looks like the Aintree "Chair" would look to a donkey.

I've watched quite a bit of Barca this year, and they can be had. Their defense is no great shakes and though they can score in bunches they are vulnerable to the counter. If we play like we did at Roma we've certainly got a chance.

I think the first round of matches backs up what I initially said. There is no clear favourite and any of 8 or so teams could win the CL. Match ups are going to play a huge part. Tuesday could prove to the world I am a fool, but I still have a strange feeling about Dortmund.

The CL restarts in a a week and a bit and I believe this is the most open tournament for a decade. I don't think there is an outstanding team this season. Bayern have tactical issues and Madrid have balance issues. Madrid also might be missing players for a hard quarter final.

I have not seen PSG this year, but there are so many teams that could beat each other on any given day. Madrid, Bayern, Barca, Atletico, Chelsea, City, probably PSG and call me crazy even Dortmund have a shot at winning it this season.

So who do you think will win it?

us.

After the game against Roma I thought you had a chance of a good run and there is no reason you cannot win it. Depends on how you approach things including the fans. If you play intelligently against Barca and show no fear then I would have you as favourites. We will see the attitude of the club and players closer to the game from the things they say.

The Barcelona players will still have a bit of fear seeing Lampard, but I did not like he said you will go for them. Letting Messi/Neymar/Suarez counter attack against you not a good idea.

i feel very confident. was in rome and the steel in the players faces told a story. we can go all the way, and we are finally at full strength which is great being at the business end of things.

If I am being perfectly honest it doesn't fill me with that much excitement really. After all the hoo haa getting there it's all been a bit of a sad anti-climax. I wonder how much of that feeling can be attributed to the shocking way Platini has treated us and the obvious suggestion that we are just not welcome.

Add to that the way the draw works. Half kills the competition for me.
