Most underrated player to play for city

Never understood why Richard Edghill was on the end of so much abuse, a blue through and through and a great defender until his confidence was shot to pieces by the crowd

Was only talking about this kind of thing with my brother recently. The absolute mug fans who tried, and succeeded in draining him of any confidence. The cowards in the crowd who wouldn’t have stepped forward to take a pen at Wembley like Edgy did.

We also spoke about Paul Power who was often the target of the boo-boys. They also had a boo when he returned to Maine Road for Everton and went on to win the league.

Confidence player, he had games where his finishing was woeful and got bullied by smaller defenders than him. Then he would be unplayable with his tale up, Spurs in 2011 and the run in for 2014 were some of his memorable moments. Dragged us off the deck v Notts County for his first ever City goal.

The man next to me in 216 back in the day made a very valid point that he scored four at Spurs yet then got dropped for the next match. It seemed a typical January transfer window signing.

Going back to the 70's Joe Royle springs to mind, created a lot of chances for Kidd and Tueart. As some else said Gordon Smith, we would have won the Second Division in 85 if he hadn't been injured. David Phillips and Kevin Reeves are two others who can also be classed as under rated
