Mosted Visited Club Websites Jan-June 2016 - City 17th - 1.7mill

i dont bother with mancity.com as its slow and complicated.

the golden rules of a top website is 1) The user interface is easy to use 2) The speed shouldn't make users wait for information or content 3) The appearance is current and modern ... pity that the official site only partially delivers on one of those things.

Think City sacrificed the main site and users just for the sponsorship cash from Wix.

@GeekinGav has got it in one, we could have a slick site with smooth drop down menus in javascript etc, basically a badass looking site custom made. It would cost a bit but not to much. I can name 5 people off the top of my head who would script up a sexy as fuck site that did not chew resources. Plenty of tech firms in town who would step over their own mother to have a chance at doing it.

I think an IT training site would be a good idea, i.e. mancitybeta.com where aspiring programmers and such create site templates etc. Colocate or rent 1 beast .nl 10gbps box and that would serve the entire fan base for about 2k a month. The kudos and good will from the IT community would be nice to and it would bring together some talented blues who then could go on to build the worlds greatest site maybe :-)

excluding the Ticketing side of the site for a moment, anyone could do an easier, better looking, responsive site within a week, for 99p a month (with a free domain) than the blog we currently have that is mancity.com (ticketing platform aside)

I'll never understand why we changed it, it was quite good before and now it's universally regarded as being terrible.

Never bother with the site really. Its a bit too 'shop window' nowadays, which is quite right as the club grows in global appeal.
If I can't see a game or highlights there is plenty of opinion on here YouTube and various podcasts. Obviously a few nutters to sift out.

I agree the website is crap. I also agree that much of what I want to find out about City I can do from other sites.
But the fact we are 17th means that surely we need to improve what we offer. Not having a standalone ticket site might help, as will getting someone in who can rip the current site out and start again

Am I alone in being unable to play any videos at all on our site? I used to be able to play them but now they never play and I mean never. There's no search function, the layout is a mess, the whole set up is a complete shambles.

Thing is this would require us basically telling wix 'buck up and get us a slick custom site you shits'. I get the feeling this would be a last measure for our suits. The roll on effect would be others see wix making custom sites for us which brings into question the standard of their current service.

My own network can theoretically serve 4k+ users and i pay about 500-700 a month for hardware and bandwidth so city can easily afford to do it, just the sticking point with our wix deal hampers us a lot.

Not a huge surprise in a way. I used to go on our website reasonably often but they have fucked it right up over the last few years. I don't even go on there now to check our fixtures because the fixtures page is terrible. Having said that, Marseille above us? Seems odd.

its basically a social hub, not a website now. like Pornhub but with video's that arent quite as satisfying lol
