Motd

Thats right, the ref blew because united may have been scored against, and we can't have that can we? In reality though, the actual reality that is, Mr Atkinson blew the whistle because the ball had been hoofed from one half to the other, and it was time to blow the whistle. No conspiracy, no 'for united', no this, not that, no hatred against everyone bar united... just a final whistle when the final whistle was supposed to be blown. Course, if you want to lose sleep over it and live your lives in a 'everyone's for united' world, go ahead. I'll sleep soundly knowing its all in your paranoid little heads.

Well ask yourself whatever happened to this rule about 30 seconds being added on for a goal celebration, clearly bullshit but universally accepted after the derby. Never before and never since has this rule been enforced consistantly, why didnt Atkinson apply this rule today??.

It is also very unusual for a referree to blow up when one team is clearly on the counter.

This is where you're clearly in 'everyone loves united' mode. As Everton even approached the box Andy Gray said its all over, the whistle had gone. The whistle went when it should have, its as simple as that at the end of the day. The ball didn't even reach the box. Watch it on a live replay from Sky and listen to that commentary, fuck MOTD. I watched it and Andy Gray clearly says the games over before Everton even get their shot on goal.

-- Sat Sep 11, 2010 11:42 pm --

Something similar happened to City in 1977 when Dennis Tueart had an equaliser disallowed by the final whistle...

He might have done but by that point it was already obvious that Everton had a 4 on 2 situation.

I dont like to watch United unless we are playing them, so I'll take your word for it. But this rule for adding 30 seconds on for a goal in extra time has only to my knowledge been applied to us, and if it was consistant would have allowed Everton that scoring chance given that 2 goals were scored in E.T.

Its selective interpretation of the rules at best.
