JOSE MOURINHO could be on his way back to Chelsea this month – but only if Real Madrid are dumped out of the Champions League by Manchester United tonight.


Despite recent improved performances, the ex-Blues boss remains unhappy at the Bernabeu, where he feels he has lost the support of the players and the club’s hierarchy.

And with Madrid third in the league – trailing Barcelona by 13 points – an exit in Europe at the first knockout stage could see Mourinho and Madrid agree to part company.

That would allow the 50-year-old to return to Chelsea and oversee their bid to qualify for the Champions League.

They are currently fourth, but fans would love to see interim boss Rafa Benitez kicked out and ‘The Special One’ return.

Mourinho has bought a home in London and his daughter, Tita, 16, is attending Camberwell Arts College, as he appears to prepare to work again in the capital.

He has repaired his relationship with owner Roman Abramovich and the pair have been in regular contact.

Losing Mourinho would leave Madrid with a need to find a quick replacement, but Benitez himself has made no secret of wanting the job at the club where he was a youth player before coaching the reserves.

After Chelsea struggled to a 1-0 win over West Brom on Saturday, Blues keeper Petr Cech became the first player to speak out in favour of Mourinho coming back to the club he left in September 2007.

You're the one saying 'deluded ones'.

You're as deluded as anyone if you hope Jose goes to Chelsea. I can understand PSG but not fucking Chelsea. It's a loser of a comment straight away because the adage 'bite your nose off to spit your face' slots in.
