They are trapped in their belief in their own fake history - even their press release this morning went on about their attacking heritage. They think that all you need is someone who "knows the club" and buys into the idea that in every game since Busby they have gone out and attacked every opponent in every game they have ever played. Until they own up the the reality of some turgid games under various manager and some heavy defeats where they were outplayed - plus a relegation - they are doomed by their own beliefs to repeat the current crop of recent failures.
