Studio 8 apparently
Same director as Northmen the viking film which had quite a large budget if memory serves

Mmm.

Bit worrying that. Very flash-in-the-pan, that film "The Northman".

However Eggers, the director, made "The Lighthouse", which was alright, with Willem Dafoe. The trailer has echoes of the A24 production style, which is what made me ask the question.

I look forward to it, actually.

Metropolis made with today's SFX.
The Great Dictator.
Battleship Potemkin.
The Passion of Joan of Arc.
Citizen Kane set in the near future.
High Noon.
Night of The Hunter.
The Sword of Doom.
Nooooo. Yes; the effects in it are very basic and clunky, compared to today's technology. But, in my opinion, that's part of it's appeal. To me, anyway. Same with Close Encounters. I dread Hollywood doing an effects laden reboot of it. Leave well alone.

I used to watch "Metropolis" over and over, I was so mesmerised!! Maybe I'm biased from that love, that I can't see where anyone would take it and still follow the original's arc. I mean, the only way it happens these days, is by being gritty, dystopian and dark.

But that would make it like everything else that was influenced by it!

I loved Chaplin in "The Great Dictator", but there's no way that could be remade!

"Battleship Potemkin"? I have heard of it, but never watched it. But reading the synopsis, I agree, it would make an excellent re-telling.

I've never heard of this film, but "The Passion of Joan of Arc" is obviously the story we all know. I would like to see this re-done in a totally different setting.

Do you think "Citizen Kane" can be bettered? I'm really not sure we have the directors, these days, with the vision or gravitas to pull it off.

"High Noon" is untouchable in my opinion.

"Night of The Hunter" is one I will have to watch. Was never a fan of Robert Mitchum.

"The Sword of Doom"! I'm embarrassed to say I haven't watched this film ever! I have no idea why! Well, maybe because I had watched a copious amount of sword films, at one point, they all seem to be similar-ish! But, that was years ago and it's time I put it on my list!

What about The Jazz Singer, im sure it would go down a treat these days.

This popped up on my timeline.

It's got some GREAT ideas (of course not all of them) that could be explored for the MCU (stupid comic book title aside) and the 'Black Panther' legacy. It, actually, piqued my interest again for the possibilities after Disney's Bob Iger has decided tick boxes exercises were dragging down and diluting the storylines.

The Heretic is what I’m looking forward to watching. Hugh Grant looks a proper creepy fucker in it, even more so than on his mug shot after getting caught receiving a gobble off that prossie.

There was a nifty line in T shirts back in the day when Grant's misdemeanour occurred. The front showed a photo of him in his police mugshot with the caption "To err is HUGH man" and the back showed a photo of the prossie in question with the tagline "But to forgive DIVINE" Actually the film wasn't bad.

So...!!

We have a final timeline for Mr Denzel Washington leaving the acting world!

He says his final 3 films are... 'Black Panther 3', 'Othello' and 'King Lear'. I love he's ending his career with Shakespeare's works that he very clearly loves.

The man is 70. 70!!!!

He looks amazing for that age! I hope he gets to finish his works and enjoy what time he has left.

He deserves that.

He be back after those films because like you say he looks so well and I reckon he will be fit as a fiddle till he is at least 90!

Gene Hackman, 94 now, last acting stint I can find is 20 years ago so maybe Denzel will retire and not heard of again like Gene Hackman?

It's possible he may delay depending on the box office numbers, especially on 'BP3'. I think he's be paid nominally for the role and take residuals/ percentages of the box office as the main pay. It will be the smart play.

He could stay til 90, but be static in movie roles! LOL! Nobody sees Anthony Hopkins rolling over hoods of cars for good reason! Not that he ever did, but ya know what I mean!! LOL!

So my 'fan film' interests have been showing me some interesting things and this popped up on my timeline. 25 years ago 'Batman: Beyond' was an ambitious project to carry on the 'Batman' legacy via protagonist 'Terry McGinnis'. i remember seeing it the first time, thinking wtf is this? but it was pretty decent. I never thought it would or could ever be put on screen because of the budget I thought it would need.

Boy, was I wrong...

Do not watch a film called Leave The World Behind. It is utter shite, actually left me angry at how bad it was.

I wonder if we'll see Jonathan Majors back in action soon for settling the case against him with his ex.

Dismissed With Prejudice...

Not sure what monies were involved, but she was happy enough to let it go and can't go after him again. There's a few actors that have done this (Josh Brolin, Mel Gibson) and have still gone on to maintain careers in the acting game.

I hope this is true for him too.
