Former Manchester United boss David Moyes has held talks with Galatasaray but is not the first choice to become the club's new head coach.
The Turkish side parted company with former Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini at the end of last season.
Moyes, 51, who was sacked by United in April, met Galatasaray president Unal Aysal in Istanbul to "exchange ideas".
Germany boss Joachim Low and United States counterpart Jurgen Klinsmann are the top targets.
Both managers have led their teams into the last 16 of the World Cup.
A Galatasaray spokesman said the Scot is not a "main target". "It is true the president talked with David Moyes," the spokesman said. "They just spoke to each other, exchanging ideas - that is it.
Moyes, who was also manager at Preston and Everton, was dismissed just 10 months into the six-year deal he signed when named as Sir Alex Ferguson successor at Old Trafford last year.
