Mr Bates vs the Post Office

I assume your talking about Jess Kaur?
Her case highlights the scale of this scandal in that she was one of the "lucky" ones because she was never convicted or actually a faced a trial. A judge through her case out but that took three years by which time her life was in ruins.
I didnt catch her name but sure that is her . My doubts about the just £75k extends to people like her , i think she will fall through the cracks in terms of compensation

No 3 different schemes, to cover those convicted Those that were part of the group litigation ie pursued for cash and the rest of us that were in a better financial position and made good the shortfall. Currently awaiting the information but I believe its limited to the ammount we payed in.
Those that made good the shortfall presumably get all that back plus interest as a bare minimum, or are they just paying back the amounts stolen through contributions made?

There should also be compensation on top for the bullying behaviour and abusive/unfair contracts and false accusations. If they are trying to do it on the cheap again it just shows they are only pandering to the publicity

Still awaiting the pack but my understanding is that I will only be able to claim any shortfalls made good but they will require a level of proof I may no longer have, in my case looking at around £4K annoying but not the end of the world we weren't really bullied as some were but were told no one else has an issue and you are contractually obliged to make good.

Apologies if you have already explored this route but Howe+Co may be able to assist you in obtaining any documentation POL hold about the shortfalls and the monies you paid back.

until those responsible have been jailed

I hope this opens up avenues for all companies that have treated people like this. My mate worked for a franchise & got out when he realised they were driving their franchisees to bankruptcy then taking over & re-selling.

If it wasn't so tragic the way her case was dismissed would be amusing. Jess blamed the shortfalls on a faulty pin pad, the judge asked for the pin pad to be presented in court, POL said they couldn't present it. When asked why POL said it was because it had been sent for repair. The judge concluded that if the pad had been sent for repair it must have been faulty and dismissed the case!
Like so much else in life, the outcome of a trial can be based on the luck of the draw. Lots of other judges wouldn’t have taken that point as stridently.

Expect this to feature heavily in the news again today.
The European boss of Fujitsu, Paul Patterson, will face MPs on the Business and Trade select committee at 11:30 on Tuesday.

Rajbinder Sangha (Release Management Coordinator, Fujitsu Services Limited; former member of Fujitsu’s Fraud and Litigation Support Office) is due to face the Horizon IT enquiry at 10AM.
