This upcoming session should reveal a large number of candidates for prosecution. Be good to see some of the heartless bastards who were sending people to prison to see how they like it, I particularly look forward to seeing how the various lawyers answer questions about disclosure.

I disagree. Your post is why I get so pee'd off with all this.
To get a prosecution the police will have to interview everyone. Then they will have to submit a file to the CPS who may decide there is sufficient evidence to put them before a court.
This current charade merely delays any court case.
IMO all of the above would take 3 years after all this is finished. By then some will rule its not in the public interest due to the time that has elapsed.
 
Counsel complains about the PO late delivery of documents again.
Inquiry head takes a dim view but says they're just going to get on with it and maybe they'll have to work on the non-sitting days.

And now, for Mr Bates...

Depends, I’m hoping that there will be sufficient of a public / media outcry that the politicians will have to intervene and put pressure on for prosecutions.

They still haven't had a proper inquiry about Windrush. They certainly haven't helped hundreds of people who were wrongly deported and had their lives ruined.
They still haven't sorted out the tainted blood scandal where people died.
If the government wanted this resolved they would stop the inquiry and tell the Met to get a full team of detectives investigating. They would fund the detectives who would seize documents, arrest and interview people and prepare a case file for the CPS.
They dont and they won't.

They are looking for the inquiry to last longer than the victims live.
 
Hopefully Ed Davey will be required to give evidence. The pre agenda draft that was read out prior to the meeting on 7 October 2010 shows what the Government's position was. Shame Mr Bates has no proper minutes or detailed recollections of that meeting which is surprising given how meticulous he normally was/is.

I think he's very good on detail of what/when, but the questions are maybe not what I was expecting - it's very much about how the issue was dealt with for him. The fact that a lot is aimed at what he knew/thought/perceived may be the thing that makes it curious.

He comes across like Digby Jones in his speech mannerisms. It's a little irritating in how he's answering, but happily that's less relevant in an inquiry than to a court.

One thing about this morning though - the PO have some serious questions to answer about their response. I'm sure he said that he got the sacking letter over £1,000 - it's a bit OTT for such a sum.

Sorry to pee you off but I actually think the CPS will have enough to go on very soon
