Mr. Jack Rodwell

Barry's defensive acumen and positioning are underrated - part of the reason we have looked leaky is because he isn't there. Rodwell isn't on that level yet but has the makings of a fine player indeed. Loved the runs he made with the ball to drive us forward. He has a lot in his locker and Mancini will get it all out.
 
Rodwell looks to be a cracking bit of business and i think bobby can mold him into a world class talent, but will he still get games when Garcia is available dont know much a Javi. Rodwell looks very solid and in my opinion was one of, if not the best players on the pitch today he was very unlucky to get booked.
 
Agree with the positive posts here. Looks like Jack is settling in and I'm beginning to like this move in a "horses for courses" sense. Seems to me that Bobby has now afforded himself the luxury of having at least 2 main "looks" in terms of shape, to throw at different types of opponents. Can see Rodwell playing here in this type of situation for a long time.

Hunted the ball down much further up the park today and that led to a couple of attacks when he broke up play. It does leave us open to counters but presumably RM instructed him to do this and if we are less profligate in front of goal, we'll soon put some side to the sword.

He's not averse to playing a longer ball over the top and into the channels either, something NDJ rarely did.
 
Best game by far mr rodwell but ya ya toure is the king of that midfield its like watching maestro at work .
 
As I thought, he was rather wasted at Everton because he is good at the things that Everton don't base their game plan around.

His simple passing game is superb and as has been said he really looks composed beyond his years, which is perfect for our system. He's excellent, much like Barry, at finding that simple pass when the ball is loose in the middle of the park. The fact you think he's not doing much is testament to the good job he's doing. Which is something that people have never been able to grasp with Barry. Like many defensive players, if you don't notice him, he's had a good game.

I think he needs to slot into our defensive shape a bit better but that is just because he's new to the team, give him a few months to cultivate his positioning and he'll be making those de Jong/Barry like interceptions.

Could be a very shrewd signing by Mancini this one.
 
we should be fine at CM with J-rod ! Barry , yaya , milner and J garcia

and what a player jack rodwell can become playing alongside barry and yaya

good business , i just hope he develops well and learns from yaya and barry
