Be interesting to see him pushed up in the CC or whatever to where Ya Ya plays when is further forward. I think he could do a job there. I also think that he has looked nervous which is to be expected, must be intimidating training and playing with some of our players, and with him playing the DM role I think he is keeping it simple re his passing. I have high hopes for him.

I'd like to keep Barry for next season though in a much more limited fashion. His game doesn't revolve around his pace, but rather on his intelligence & exceptional positioning, & i think he can still contribute beyond this season.

Thought he kept it simply and would like to see if this is how he plays naturally or whether he was for example overwhelmed by playing alongside Yaya so once bedded in he's got more to give? Was yelling for him to make a few more forward runs in the second half when the space appeared. Pleasantly pleased on Saturday though.

Jack Rodwell has been forced to withdraw from the England Under-21 squad.

The City midfielder picked up a knock on his knee in the 3-1 win over QPR at the weekend and will instead receive treatment at Carrington.

Though he is ruled out of the trip to Azerbaijan, the injury will be assessed during the week and if he shows sufficient improvement, Rodwell may join up with the squad for Monday’s game against Norway.

Looking good so far, pretty sure he'll be groomed as Gaz Baz's replacement.

Barry is contracted to 2014 and he'll be 33 in 2014 so unless he does something spectacular to give City a reason to extend his contract I can see Barry finishing with us when his contract runs out in 2014.

Rodwell will be 23 by then and will have had 2 years working with the likes of Yaya, Barry etc so should be natural to make that role his own - providing he continues as he has done recently.

Exactly right. I can't imagine how nervous he must be playing alongside guys like that and wanting to impress so badly. He has looked ok so far but will need patience.
