Mr. Jack Rodwell

I have an issue with taking an inexperienced player from Everton's squad - a reserve there -and giving him the responsibility to produce the goods in the biggest of games against the strongest of opposition, especially when there are other experienced players available.
If he wasn't English, he would have been crucified for the mistakes he's made - just like Savic was. He's got off very, very lightly so far.

To me he's just as bad! - I shit myself every time he's on the ball now just like i do when i see savic anywhere near it!

Yes he's a "good" player supposedly and one for the future, but twice in only a handful of games he's put it on a plate for the opposition to score and both times the opposition obliged!

Against Dortmund they totally out classed us, and Joe kept us in the game, and if rodwell hadn't slotted a lovely through ball to one of the Dortmund lads to score from it's possible we would have gone away with all the points from that game!

On the topic of new "talent" what are peoples thoughts on Sinclair, other than wanting to rim his misses i don't really know much about him and haven't seen him play that much either

Don't know what to make of Sinclair yet, but, just imagine it - if things had been a little different this summer, conceivably we could have had injuries and had the privilege of shredding our nerves watching Rodwell and Savic as our centre half pairing. Now THAT would have been fun to reminisce about at some 'York away' game in the future.

Jesus christ marry & joeseph! - The thought of Rodders and Sav as a central pairing has brought me out in cold sweats and some sort of phunky rash and not the good kind you get after a night out with the lads in Amsterdam!

And the piece de resistance is Pantillimon in goal behind them!

He's clearly talented but he desperately seems to lack self-belief. In fact, he looked like he was shaking in fear when he came on on Wednesday night. Needs to man up.

FFS, there's some some raggish bastids on this thread. Some of the comments about a lad who's 21, coming into a team that plays completely different to his last one and a manager who expects different things.

Fine he's made one clanger, which sadly ended up in the back of the net.

Give the lad a chance, maybe a season if you can, be critical, but be fair!

two actually, both ended up in the back of the net.

He just needs to learn the City style football, I'm sure he'll be a great player for us NEXT season as will Garcia when they've settled into our style of play. Kompany/Lescott/DeJong/Milner/Kolarov etc have all improved over time at City.

Why next?

This one has only just begun. Was looking bleak for Maicon a fortnight ago, and now expectations have risen. No reason at all why Rodwell and Garcia can't make a similar impact - although there's a lot of competition in that position

You are right but while Barry is still here i doubt Rodwell will "stolle" his place...next year yes he must to learn how to play in a system like us

I still think he will be a good signing. He needs to get over all these minor injuries.
These "minor injuries" have dogged him for a long time, he visited a top German muscle specialist in the summer and said in the OS interview that he felt he was over them. I think he also said he sees himself as a centre back eventually.
