not for me as i don't use it but my daughter goes on and whilst during multiple conversations with her mates at the bottom of the screen there are various boxes for each person and conversation but after about 5 Min's all but one of these conversation boxes are deleted anyone had this know why? also is msn known as a way of attracting Trojans as AVG is detecting them quite regularly even though no files are being exchanged...cheers all.

AVG free edition wont protect you in realtime from threats transmitted via Instant Messenger (viruses etc) . AVG Pro does. Bit Defender also has this feature.

not sure at the moment as the thing has a trojan thats attcking the "netsock" windows resets this setting then i restart the thing i then get access to the internet briefly until the trojan attacks again and disconects the internet, ive tried it 7 times even AVG picks it up,lobs it in the vault and deletes it but it comes back...its got me//

Stonie, where in Audenshaw are you mate?

stonie, download hijack this > http://majorgeeks.com/download3155.html

run the program and save the results into a text file, post them and I'll take a look.

meantime, reboot to safe mode. Delete all temp files (also make sure hidden files and folders are visible so you dont miss anything),

then msconfig (start, run, msconfig), untick anything that isn't essential at boot. If you're not sure what an entry is or whether it is needed reference this > http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_index.htm

Once you do that and I take a look at your logs I'll let you know what programs to run to check over your machine.

MSN viruses are pains. I got one a couple of years ago, it isn't even removed by getting rid of MSN. You have to delve into the program files or something. I have an AVG Internet Security (the whole package including the Pro antivirus) license which is valid til 2018. If anyone wants it, PM me. You need to download the trial of it on the AVG site first and enter the key at setup.
Edit~ Download link here: <a class="postlink" href="http://www.avg.com/93638" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.avg.com/93638</a>

if you have msn itself that it fine however if you download applications for it such as msn plus then thats when you start getting viruses and the problems.
