what about the drivel you printed about Mario in your swansea match report ?
the column inches between us and utd may well be equal, its what your write in those columns is what most blues are pissed off about.

You have to write the match reports for evening kick offs as the game progresses, otherwise we would not hit the deadline.
I was told to mention the "I Love Mcr" T-shirts, and Mario did what he did, which was daft, when the subject was a serious one.
I have constantly defended Mario, in the MEN and on Talksport, but you can't escape the fact that he does daft things, a lot.
I didn't go over the top, just mentioned it - I'm not here to whitewash, or Bluewash, but to say what I think, and I think Mario was daft.
If it had been a Saturday game, when you have time to consider and edit your own stuff, it probably wouldn't have gone in, but evening match reports are a mad scramble and these things happen.
Just try it - next timje you watch a match, set yourself to write a 1,000 words match report which has to be completed within ten minutes of the final whistle. Trust me, it is not easy!
you didnt 'just mention it' you wrote about 3 paragraphs on it.

Don't disagree column inches were balanced but what about the disgusting leader comment - remember the 'we only print the results' nonsense -totally unforgivable - the begining of the end. the MEN nailed its colours to the mast that day.

I'm not sure what it is you are referring to.
However, I do remember the reader poll in 1995 which suggested Fergie should get the sack, months after winning the Double.
United fans point to that as anti-United bias, and Fergie still refuses to talk to the MEN on a regular basis, and refers to that piece. Fergie thinks we're pro-City and anti-United because he, like many people on here, sees what he wants to see and ignores the rest.
I'd have to be a raving idiot to have an anti-City agenda, as some people insinuate. I'm no genius, but I'm also not in the business of making my life as hard as possible
The truth is, I enjoy covering City, I enjoy watching them play and can't wait to see Aguero in the coming season.
It's funny that after the City homecoming, when we devoted most of the first part of the paper to the parade, and the sports pages, the MEN editor got a letter from City saying how pleased they were with the coverage, and basically saying that the club doesn't believe the stuff about us being the MUEN.
I wish I could repeat it in full here, but that would not be fair on the sender.

"And Ali Benarbia was described as ‘world class’ by a team-mate after sparking a 6-2 rout of Birmingham in his first game."

The score was 3-0....

Again, can I just kill the stuff about when City were in the second division.
I was at the MEN at the time, working as a sub-editor, and the sports editor kept a record of column inches devoted to United and City, and made sure that they balanced by the end of the week.
Any City or United fan who complained that the other team got preferential coverage - was shown the figures.
That was despite the fact that City were, as someone said, a division below Stockport and Bury, and United were winning the Treble.
The poster who said otherwise has a faulty memory, or is just remembering what he wants to remember.

Any news on Nasri Stu? :)

While you're here.... Can you explain why you go on about Yaya Toure's wage's being 220k per week and Carlos Tevez being on 250k per week(you try and squeeze that one in every column about City) when the Club has comfirmed the fiqures quoted are well over the top.

I know for a fact that Carlos is on £230,000 a week, but can't quote a source I also know Yaya is on a sum approaching that of Carlos, who is the top earner at the club.

Haha, doubt you'll get a response on that one...

*Waits with bated breath*

I know for a fact you made that up. Why continue to lie about it. Tevez admitted he was offered a rise to stay at Christmas and it was around the fiqure above. Yaya's wages are around half what you quote and he earns alot in image rights nothing to do with what we pay him. NOTW come up with those fiqures and we know what a joke of a paper that was.

My hands are up. I got mixed up with the Sheffield Weds game which was a week or two later. Sorry!

I'm glad you're using your real user name now instead of oakiecokie.

Nice for you to "man-up" but it's too late now. We all know where the MUEN stands!

Cue oakiecokie any minute... If not, oh dear Mr Brennan :/

Stu,

Fair play for posting and putting forward your perspective. As you've pointed out rags view the paper biased towards us, and we will think the complete opposite. Such is life.

Whilst your on here, would you be so kind as to drop about sixteen thousand laxatives in Peter Spencers coffee next time your in the office. Had the misfortune to hear his pearls of wisdom on Talksport recently, RAG!

Have you purposely ignored all of his recent posts? He doesn't have to come on here and prove to you and everyone else why the MEN isn't biased, but he has done. He's given you ample response - even admitted when he was wrong! - and yet you remain stubborn. I think he has proved today where the MEN stands.

Famous story from the 1960s that sums the MUEN up, from its own pages:

"We printed with the old hot-metal process. Tom [Henry, former editor] ran the show like an old-fashioned ironmaster. An avid Man United fan, he hated to see the Reds lose. One Saturday, spotting a “United crash 5-2” headline, and soon changed it to “United in 7-goal thriller”."

http://menmedia.co.uk/manchestereve.../1395027_tom_waghorn_end_of_an_era_at_the_men

P.S. My cousin works at the MUEN and he's a rag; I think it's a contractual thing.

I certainly did not make it up. I was told it by a well-placed source i.e. someone who would know.
If it is not true - and, as I said, no-one but no-one has contradicted it whenever I have used it - then the person who told me has made it up. And that is extremely unlikely.
I can't say any more because it would be betraying confidences.
