40m muffins a year made for the pupose of putting chips on them or bacon or ham or etc etc you get the drift.

Havent chimed in here for a while, but we definitely need a poll. One vote for each person would sort this out once and for all.

Chip MUFFIN. However, if I was buying the said bread item in the supermarket I would buy it as a BARM CAKE. Strange - and even stranger that this thread is so long!
And is so difficult to get proper oven bottoms these days!

Asda sell oven bottom muffins, local bakeries sell oven bottom muffins never seen anywhere that actually sells barms. They are oven bottomed muffins which some locals like to call barms but in reality it is a muffin.
