Muhammed Ali RIP

A guy at work used to box in the army was spouting off that Tyson is the greatest of all time yesterday. He would have wiped the floor with Ali apparently. He got lucky because of his skin colour and the time he was around. I wanted to argue the case but I'm not a boxing man.

Why would you argue the case if you're not a boxing man? I'm not a boxing man either so I wouldn't argue the case either side as I don't have the same knowledge others have. I've watched a lot if boxing, but have no real knowledge of the sport.

I personally never took to Ali as a boxer, as I didn't like all that arrogant mouthy stuff. However, as a normal bloke away from the ring he seemed decent enough. Some very good anecdotes about him on 5Live last week. One belter about visiting a hospital and he went to see some old bloke who was in a sideroom and wouldn't speak to anyone. Ali went in with his entourage and said to the bloke 'Do you know who I am?'. The old guy beamed and said 'yes, you're Joe Louis'.....

Ali smiled and left the room. Someone then asked him why he didn't correct the old bloke, to which Ali replied 'if it brought him happiness to think he met the great Joe Louis, that's fine for me'. Quality.
