Just got a new laptop and have been trying to set up a multi-screen setting so I can watch films etc. on the big screen.

Couple of issues I need help with.

1) the resolution seems to be off, as the projected image on the monitor is bigger than the screen (i.e. it's cutting off some of the task bar). I've been through the settings and set everything to what the monitor is capable of (1080p) but it wont change.

2) How do I get the sound to come out of my speakers and not the monitor?

Thanks very much for your help in advance, guys!

You won't be using the right wire for the sound.

It will just be sending the picture through it and not capable for the sound. I never wanted to pay for a better wire so I hooked my desktop speakers up to the laptop to make it louder.

I'm using a mirco HDMI to HDMI wire. Does that not carry sound?

Also That's what I'm trying to do with my speakers. I want it coming out of them and not out the TV.

Sound was coming out the speakers when HMDI wasn't plugged in... When I plugged it in my monitor went to a shite and the sound started coming out of it! haha
