There's a huge campsite in the middle of Munich that's not as bad as it sounds, I stayed there a few years ago during Oktoberfest and there was a shuttle bus to the U-Bahn station and Fest site every 15 minutes. Better than paying €200 for a hotel room.

Looks like there's a few blues booked in here mate. Me and the bread knife being 2 of them. £154 for 2 nights double room with breakfast is a steal compared to some others.

I stayed in a youth hostel when i was there and it was like a hotel tbh. I had to share a room with some kids from Greece or somewhere but as i was out on the piss, had my valuables on me, and only stayed a night with them (had the room to myself first 3 nights) it was fine. It was dirt cheap, and I never bother with hotels anymore if i can get a hostel room. If you're interested I can get you the name, or you can just look on a hostel website and type in Munich and see what they have available for the date. Recommend it.

i booked a hostel off laterooms.com... as already mentioned these hostels look more like hotels, and theres plenty who do four per room so you just pay for the room, theres four of us going and it cost us 99 quid for one night inc b/fast 25 quid each...

You may want to try booking.com

Minutes ago, I just booked a hotel right next to the airport for £86. Ideal for my late arrival Tuesday, early departure Wednesday.

Found a hotel in Augsburg for a decent price, near to the train station, about 60km from Munich. Anybody with knowledge of Munich tell me if this is any good or is it a pain getting to and from? Thanks

Easy to get to on the train. Regular trains but not sure when the last one at night leaves to Augsburg from Munich. Best trying and getting one in Munich if you can. I have done the camping option about 8yrs ago and it was good. You just turn up and roll into your tent, steaming after a session at Oktoberfest. Loads of banter and crumpet also.

Cheers. I was keen for the camping but I'm struggling to find a space in "The-Tent" and I'm flying with hand luggage only so can't take our own.

Give them a go. Unterhaching is about 20mins by S-Bahn from the town center. They might have a room going which isn`t completely outrageous.

I'm booked into a place in Augsburg too. Trains are every hour ish. Last one just after midnight- but we will be getting the 0452 back there from Munchen no doubt.
You can buy tickets for upto 5 people on the train there for about 30 euro.

Cheers lads. That hotel demas reservations bit isn't working. Think I'm gonna book the one in Augsburg, 04:52 train will give ensure no Cinderellas!

we're staying at a place called hostel central, found it on booking.com, only 5 mins wlak from the station and 700m from the main oktoberfest gardens

four of us sharing a private room, worked out 132.50 each for 2 nights, shocking really as its normally less than a quarter of that a month later
