Muse - Etihad Stadium Concert - 1st June

As good as muse are they are still way off the kind of show u2 put on.
Now I'd disagree, and have seen 1 more U2 gig than Muse.

I think they are pretty much on a par "show" wise, obviously they are a different band, but certainly there is not much in it show wise, and a stadium gig is much more a show than a gig with all the graphics available, and I thought Muse had that about spot on.

I thought U2's 360 tour was good because of the inovation of the "360" show, and I was lucky enough to see it twice (one on each tour).

Judging by the audience last night Muse wouldn't have got many more there anyway, even if all the seats had been available. I'm not sure if it was officially sold out, but there were certainly empty seats up stairs in the CB level 3, and its difficult to judge how many were in GA, but I would imagine that was sold out, so the empty seats there are just because more wanted to stand closer to the stage, though I prefered to be seated and get a view from slightly higher up.

Pretty sure it wasn't a sell out as they'd been advertising tickets all the way up to this week. Plus a mate of mine picked up a ticket for a tenner off a tout (the lucky twat - we'd paid face value, £49.50 in advance). I wouldn't mind but it was his first Muse gig and he only came along to see what all the fuss was about as he'd gotten sick of me wanking off about how good they are lol.

As for the gig itself, it must be down to the acoustics wherever you are in the stadium because unlike everyone else on this thread I thought they sounded muffled. I've been to 4 Muse gigs previously (Liverpool, LCCC, Wembley, and the MEN) and they nailed it every time but last night they didn't come across as perfect as usual. It must be down to where we were in the ground (East stand lower tier, block 109) because we were in a similar place for Coldplay last year and it was the same kind of problem yet I've been in the West stand for U2 and the Foo Fighters and both bands were perfectly audible.

I was in and around 109 as well, were you in the open, or under the 2nd level ? We were just under it, and I thought it was pretty clear, but my comparison is with Reading (so no accoustics really), and Wembley upper level just under the roof, and not far from the stage, which I didn't think was as good (I don't much like Wembley anyway).

Saw U2 at Coms (etihad) first time, and was sat about the same place, maybe a bit closer to the stage, and thought the sound was excellent there, luckily I saw them at Wembley for 360, and was within the stage area, and then in Paris, which I wasn't as impressed with, though by the time they came on stage I was knackered having been walking for about 8 hours.

Seen Muse a couple of times before and tbh hadn't listened to them for ages so wasn't really up for this gig. But have to say I thought they were superb and although the setlist wasn't as good as Wembley a few years ago, on the whole thought this was a better gig.

We were about half way down so in the open but I'd have thought the sound would've been better there than under the 2nd tier roof. What's weird is that we went to see Miles Kane at the Ruby Lounge the following night and he sounded a bit muffled too but he's perfectly capable of singing live as well. I'm beginning to think I'm just unlucky when it comes to where I position myself at gigs lol.

Incredible gig, unbelievable. You know what you're going to get from Muse before you go, the expectation level is high and you wonder if they'll continue to carry it on or top it. Well they just about topped it again...

The best live band around, the best live band i've ever seen and after that gig nothing has changed at all.

Bastille - they were alright, i like a few songs by them. I just don't think their songs suit large venues like that. Sounded a bit flat, where in a smaller capacity they would sound more powerful.

That Rascal idiot - I look back now and i wonder how i managed 45 minutes of that shite. Was dreadful, he went down better with the crowd than i thought he would. Painful, plus his language was disgraceful, there was a family near me and they took the kids out in disgust, after his first 'let's do dis shit, fucking come on. Fuck dat shit bro', embarrassing.

Muse - 10/10 for the sound. 10/10 for the 'show'.

Overall a class night and one of the best gigs of my life.

Another Muse bump - excuse me for that, but the last one.

Anyone who enjoys their stuff, and hasn't bought (or downloaded) the live in Rome CD/DVD, you really should, excellent stuff, and that I originally watched the concert at The Etihad made it even better.
