I love listening to full albums as I think they tell a story. However, there are so many albums out there that have 2-3 good tunes on and the rest is utter shite, so I thought it would be great to make a thread for people looking to listen to an album of bands that they do not know too well but the album from start to finish is pure brilliance. Please state the band/group and album along with genre and a description if you like. The reason for stating genre is that long time bands can create great albums but have completely changed genre. Please don't pollute the thread with negative comments about bands. The underlying rule is the album has to be pure brilliance and you never have the feeling to skip a tune So for me off the top of my head....
Megadeth - Rust in Peace (Thrash Metal) - This is the pinnacle of guitar riffage for me coinciding with Marty Friedman's crazy solo brilliance. After track two finishes you need a big breath and are on a new ride.
Muse - Origin of Symmetry (Alternative Rock) - This album is brilliant from start to finish. So many great tunes and they are all slightly different in genre which makes it a good listen.
Dream Theater - Train of Thought (Progressive Metal) - Starts with the "Pop" song of the album and then goes into a complete masterclass of progressive metal. The penultimate track is Stream of Consciousness and I challenge anybody to find a better instrumental anywhere.
