Well worth watching that on Jonestown, especially if you know nothing about Jim Jones.

I quite enjoy the documentaries about Columbine and 9/11 too.

!

Thanks for that link, this passed me by when it happened but the programme gave a decent insight into it.
Normally prefer the British stuff tbh, have just watched one on Dennis Nilsen, as it happens I stayed in Muswell Hill for a short time during his reign, chilling to think he was bang at it within half a mile of where I stayed.

'Man on a wire' is a very good documentary.

It's about a French bloke who planned and managed to do a tight rope walk across the top of the twin towers. The documentary shows stuff like him practising, planning and actually doing the tight rope across.

Definatally worth a watch.

Seconded. Saw it the other night...brilliant. He comes across as a real eccentric: all animated and enthusiastic about the prospect of walking between the Twin Towers as if it was a stroll in the park.

Also, on the Yesterday channel they show a lot of famous assassination documentaries (the Kennedy's, Martin Luther King, Ghandi etc). Really interesting stuff.

If you have Sky plug in the network cable and will be nice surprise for teh documentaries on anytime

Then try QED: A Guide To Armageddon. Because you don't really need that much sleep.

By the way, The World At War is an absolute masterpiece. You will simply not get a higher calibre of interviewees. They got Albert Speer, for fuck's sake. Larry Olivier narrating as well.

They also had Hitlers seceratary and believe it or not they even interviewed the soldier that set fire to Hitler and Eva Brauns bodies.
They also interviewed the guy that flew Enola Gay (dropped the Hiroshima H bomb). He seemed like the everyday bloke in the pub.
Simply fantastic stuff and a documentary of this scale and quality will probably never be made again.

Very true...sadly.

It seems you have to search the channels for anything half decent nowadays. All we seem to get on the main ones are soaps and cheap reality shows (how many more fucking cookery programmes can they shove into the schedules?).

I don't have Sky but I do have Freeview and there's quite a few decent enough channels on that to get by on.

As someone else has mentioned, The World at War was simply astounding. Definitely one of the very best of that particular ilk.

The Bridge - Two guys spend a whole year either bank of the Golden Gate Bridge and film all the jumpers. They then go and find the relatives and interview about 7-8 of them to find out why the people did it. Some are pissed off some upset etc. Its fascinating however the best part is an interview with the only jumper to survive that year, his story is mind boggling.

Has this or will this be on tv? Watched the clip for it and it looks like it would be very interesting. Where can I watch the full programme though?

Just had a quick look on Google and found this if its the same thing...

Worth a watch

Love most things on the History Channel especially WW2. Recently did a visit to Auswitch and standing on the platform where the selections took place put a lump in my throat. Also recently watched to Docu-film on Senna. Brilliant

Sad but very interesting documentary. People must be at their lowest lowest ebb of despair to take their own life. The guy who survived - what an incredible story.

The guy with the long hair really got to me, he was just so calm about it and the way he fell backwards just stunned me.

Exactly the same for me. The way he was so at ease with his own fate was chilling to watch, especially having watched him contemplate taking his own life throughout the whole documentary.
One of the best documentaries I have seen.
Same here as far as documentaries go, and for the guy that seemed so calm about doing it. The only problem I have with that, is that he was obviously there for a long time contemplating it, why has no one called the police to stop him. I know he wasn't happy with his life and he wanted to jump, but surely someone should of tried to stop him.
The photographer who took photos of the woman climbing over and about to jump then he saved her makes you think what goes on in some people's minds though. Why else would she climb over the barrier and why would you take photos of it?
