Does anyone know how to sort out a CD Drive on a Laptop.

Mine does'nt recognise any CD or DVD I put into it, and when I go on my Computer, the CD icon just says CD Drive where it used to say what CD I had in the drive.

I use Vista Home Basic and Laptop is Emachines if anyone knows what to do ill be grateful.

Try re-installing the drivers. If this doesn't work, try re-installing Vista

How can he reinstall vista without a CD Drive ?

It seems your cd drive propbably has a fault with the laser and can no longer read disks. A replacement is more than likely needed. Try booting from a disk < Operating system / recovery ) to make sure but i doubt it.

Vista can be reinstalled through USB.

1.Get a iso file of Vista from somewhere and mount it on a virtual drive( this will act as your Vista DVD for the next step)
2.See here: http://www.techmixer.com/install-windows-vista-from-bootable-usb-flash-memory-drive/
