Don't know if this has been mentioned on any other threads but it did happen once to City. i.e. we were winning 6-2 and game got abandoned. Then we lost in the re-arranged game. Well before my time but I remember reading about it.
it was an fa cup game vs luton in the early 60s
we were 6-1 up i think, denis law scoring all six and was abandoned due to fog
they won the rearranged game 3-1 IIRC

Are you 100 years ols or did ESPN inform you like me??

No I'm not 100 years old, although felt like it when I woke up this morning. So it must be you Squirtyflower, for being a bit more informed than me, that he is suggesting is very old :-)

I think the story goes that Law scored in the re-arranged game and is the only player to have scored 7 times in a cup tie and ended up on the losing side.

Said something similar to my boy at 3-0 .... that we needed a 4th as insurance. Then when we finally got a 5th said "we can relax now". When it started lashing it down second half had to take the dog for a walk I was so sure it would be abandoned. LMAO now.
Typical feckin City 5-0 up at half time and you still can't enjoy the 2nd half!

absoluty spot on, we were shitting ourselves it would be abandoned.

only city:)

i didn't think for one minute it would get abandoned on saturday but every one around me was counting down the minutes
maybe the drink had made me much more optimistic than usual

Dont think anyone enjoyed the 2nd half due to the weather........thought was going to get abandoned. An old guy stood next to us kept mentioning a game in the 60's when we were winning and got called off. If only it stayed dry....could have been 10

I really thought it was going to get abandoned half way through 2nd half. I thought "this could only happen to City". And if it had you could guarantee we wouldn't win the re-arranged game.
My fear exactly I had visions of the rag tabloids milking it, have to be honest I have never prayed so hard for the ref to blow that final whistle while being so many goals up and it was if that twat burley knew how I was feeling the way he kept going on about it being abandoned.

Pisses me off a bit really. Adam Johnson hit the nail on the head when he said the rain did Burnley a favour. Not so much because of the danger of the game being abandoned, but because there's not a doubt in my mind that we would have run up a cricket score the way we were playing. Perhaps it would have been harsh on Burnley anyway, but I just hope we don't miss out on Fourth by a goal or two.
