My Dad

My mother passed six years ago at the grand old age of 94.

She had progressive Vascular Dementia, her time had come, and she passed peacefully in her own home.

Our family are so relieved that she passed before the indignaties of the Covid lock down restrictions, which would've been a trauma for all.

Sometimes when the time has come, its a relief for everyone.

Condolences.

Extremely sorry for your loss Ric.

My Dad passed away from Alzheimer's in 2008. It was awful. My once extremely intelligent, PHd mathematician father degenerated very quickly into a shell of his former self - basically at the level of a 5-year-old child and then even worse.

For me, dementia/Alzheimer's is the worst disease - even if painless - because it robs its victims from the very essence of what they are.

Really sorry to hear that Ric. Your dad obviously had very good taste in music, film and, of course, football :). What a great role model for you growing up.

All the best at this difficult time.

My Dad sadly passed away peacefully yesterday morning, after a long battle with dementia. He was a kind, warm-hearted man with a sharp intellect and wry sense of humour. He couldn’t have been a more loving Dad, and later Grandad. He introduced me to the music of Dylan, Springsteen and Joni Mitchell, the films of Woody Allen and, of course, the football of Manchester City, for which I’ll always be grateful. Rest easy Dad, we will all miss you very much x

Sorry to hear about this. I send my sincere condolences to you and your family.

Sounds as though he also had impeccable taste in matters other than football. May he rest in peace.

I remember you telling me about your dad having dementia a few years back in PMs, Ric. And if you recall I told you my dad had dementia and died in 2004. I told you I was glad he passed as it was hard seeing my dad suffer every time I went I visited him in his care home. I felt at peace and relieved of stress because I wasn't suffering anymore and neither was he. I hope you soon get closure on your dad's passing because you've known a few years and have probably been waiting for him to pass so it wasn't a shock to yourself and family.

Think of the good times, don't dwell on the bad.

RIP.
