My Favourite Ten City Red Cards Of All Time

Dennis Tueart v HArtlepool in the FA Cup many moons ago, was getting kicked from pillar to post by one of their players turns round sticks the nut on him and just walks off. Think we won 6-0 as well.
Yeah - one of my earliest memories. I think there was a photo of Dennis visiting the fella in his hospital bed the next day to show there was 'no hard feelings'!

Kevin Horlock getting sent off against Sheff United at home in a 0-0 draw in the 2001/2002 promotion season sticks in my mind now. Was one of the worst games i ever went to & sat in the Gene Kelly Junior stand (between Platt Lane & the Kippax) i didn't even know he had been sent off untill I was on the way home!

Just as a note, we managed to pick up 10 red cards that season, but don't recall us being a particually physical of violent team??

Pointon's was hands down the best, he almost cut Giggs in half!

The two in Keegan's promotion seasons resulted in spirited wins as we marched to promotion - Benarbia v Millwall in the first 10 minutes (won 2-0) and Tiatto also in the first 10 minutes v Norwich (won 3-1), both top Maine Road atmospheres - even though there were no away fans at the first one.

Kompany's v United in the Cup was also maybe worthy of a mention, caused a real sense on injustice but then a real fight back in the second half with 10 men - again there was a top atmosphere in the second half that day as they hung on by the skin of their dirty red teeth!

The biggest shame is the one that's missing. We should be applauding the player who knocked Roy Keane out after his tackle against Haaland. The player who ran half the length of the pitch as the Rag **** was walking off and landed a left hook on the twat, knocking him clean out - then walking off.

Got to be Corradi's against United for the most ridiculous dive in the history of football. IIRC he actually fouled the defender haha

Was at the Pointon derby, like you said you could see it coming after i think g*ggs fouled Pointon, the look on his face said revenge.
Did him good & proper, i've loved him ever since.

Giggs got away with murder all his career he got off without even a booking when he should have been sent off

I seem to recall that Tueart and his victim had been best buddies prior to Tueart coming down to play for City.

Anyway, while there are many good offerings earlier in the thread above, please, please, pretty please, can we count this as an honourary relevant red card - because all of us of a certain age absolutely loved Frannie Lee even when he stopped playing for us and went to Derby, where he will be forever remembered for his glorious twatting of the loathsome dirty bastard Norman Hunter - for which both of them received red cards, and carried on fighting all the way back to the changing rooms.
That is without doubt, my favourite red card. Priceless!
Happy days....jumpers for goalposts.

I was there that day and Tueart was a fucking disgrace that day and he was my favourite player at that time.Anyone who runs 20 yards and takes flight,to cause harm, deserves a judicial sentence and Dennis was a very lucky boy that he didn`t end up before a court on an assault case.

Dissa Pointon. Just been 'topped' by Giggs. Just looked at him, pointed and told him exactly what would happen next.

And it did ! Hit him waist high and cartwheeled the rag **** in the air !! Shouted something at him and walked before the card.

Curle equalized in front of a mass of City fans then carried an invading blue round the box.

Screwed the rags title chances AGAIN.......brilliant !!
