I don't know if you are familiar with Ronald McDonald House. If not, when you come for your boy's treatment it might be worth inquiring with them ahead of time. They could very well save you a goodly number of £ on lodging and food while your lad is in the hospital.

From their mission statement and from what you have said, it sounds like it would be right up their alley.
