A lad who worked in my team was the nicest bloke. I was his supervisor and nothing I asked of him was a problem. We used to finish at 14:00 and if somebody on the later shift didn't turn up and I asked him to stay, he wouldn't bat an eyelid. His missus was a complete arsehole though. Thought the world owed her and she gave him a dog's life over a number of years.
One day, he finished work and went home. As he walked into the kitchen, she was there waiting. She had a whinge at him about something minor. He didn't answer her, just calmly walked to his shed, got his hammer and returned to give her the hiding of her life.
When he'd finished, he put the hammer back and calmly walked to the local police station to tell them what he'd done. Not condoning what he did but after years of abuse from her, something inside him snapped.
