Obviously in any population, the number of people qualifying to study for medicine is going to be a minority.I agree with your overall point that we shouldn't think "ethnic minority = poor/disadvantaged", especially when it comes to Zahawi specifically. And there are big differences between different minority groups - Indians as opposed to Pakistanis, for example. But you're wrong about (most) Africans in the UK. I can't quite remember the exact article, but it was comparing the difference in attainment between the kids of black Africans and black Caribbeans, and basically, it comes down to the fact that most Caribbeans came over as lower-skilled labourers, whereas the majority of Africans came over as skilled migrants, so their kids reflect that background.
