Merry Christmas, mate.
I love everything on the first album but the title track of the second album is AOR perfection.
Have a great Xmas.

Just watching the full Van Halen Largo 82 gig on YouTube. Outrageous. God, how lucky were we to see so many bands at their peak? All the best.I love everything on the first album but the title track of the second album is AOR perfection.

Love both bands. But VH (with Dave) remain the most indelible live musical experiences of my life. Saw them 3 times at the Apollo, (including my first ever gig when they opened and wiped the floor with a tired Sabbath.) Live, they were simply astonishing. You both reminded me of one of my favo(u)rite music reviews of all time, albeit an unfavo(u)rable one with which I disagree, though I agree with the snide comment about Boston:
Van Halen [Warner Bros., 1978]
For some reason Warners wants us to know that this is the biggest bar band in the San Fernando Valley. This doesn't mean much--all new bands are bar bands, unless they're Boston. The term becomes honorific when the music belongs in a bar. This music belongs on an aircraft carrier. C
The brilliant Robert Christgau, then of the Village Voice. He eventually grew to appreciate Van Halen, especially Eddie’s skill, though like me, thought the replacement of Roth with Hagar was a tragedy.
I agree; saw them 2x and they were a ton of fun. And they liked to play covers and do a few more obscure songs too which I always liked. Owned everything they made up until they did the equivalent of replacing Aguero with Jo.Love both bands. But VH (with Dave) remain the most indelible live musical experiences of my life. Exactly! Lol. Sammy could sing (And the first Montrose album rules) but the chemistry was ruined.I agree; saw them 2x and they were a ton of fun. Jeez...Meh, you don’t need my assistance.
Imagine being a **** who hates a band so much you have to set up a thread to make sure everyone else hates it as much as you.
At Xmas time.
Embarrassing.
