Are you getting confused with the Paul Young who left the 'Q tips' to go solo (wherever I lay my Hat - Paul Young)?

The Sad Cafe Paul Young never had a solo career, but did join Mike & The Mechanics for a while. He died about 10 yrs ago.

What, Paul Young didn't work between 1981 when Ole was released and 1985 when he joined Mike and The Mechanics?
I remember seeing him and Ian Wilson, a contemporary of mine at Burnage grammar school, perform for the 6th form at said school long before they formed Sad cafe.
Whatever happened to Ian Wilson?

Not saying he didn't work... but positive he didn't have a solo career. I was a big fan of Sad cafe, shame they didn't stand the test of time... Great band. One of their best songs never charted if I recall... Black Rose!

Didn't Ian Wilson join/work with Oldham band Barclay James Harvest?
