Napoli (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

We look like were getting that us against the world mentality back!

A win on Sunday would put us level with the 'best Arsenal squad' since the Invincible team under Wenger, whilst having a lot of injuries!

We have been written off already by 99% of the media! They will never learn

Decent professional performance that. Obviously the sending off changes the game but we kept the ball well, moved them around and the first goal was huge. Napoli were knackered in that last 20 mins & had no energy to chase the game.

Foden again excellent, Doku played well again too & the big man up top came up trumps.

Shame KDB had to go off but he sadly can't run anymore, so once they went down to 10 he was the obvious candidate. McTominay is still an absolute jobber of a player - if he's player of the year that league has really gone downhill - whilst Hojlund is also effin dogshit.

Plenty to be pleased about.

Napoli were finished as an attacking force after sending off, not they presented much threat before that, but they were still able to present a difficult obstacle to break down; however, City created plenty of chances.

Defensively, Khus makes a fine RB and he looks like he could present problems with hard low crosses.

Josko being back is a big boost.

Phil being back is an even bigger boost.

Rodri will keep getting closer to his best.

Now we need an even better performance at the Emeticrates.

Could that bore of a Commentator have been any more negative about us….
Constantly mentioned playing 10
Said only Haaland scores for us this season
Lose at weekend 9 behind dippers
Referenced last seasons poor campaign many times
Etc
Etc
Plus that droning co-com Lucy Ward!
Sounded tonight like they were commenting from a studio in London.
It’s a real nuisance having a scoring machine up front. Must do better.

The biggest thing to improve imo is Dias' passing. He gave the ball away too much.

The next thing is Reijnders' decision making.

Also how to get Doku into a more central position more often because he is potentially awesome there so wasted out wide.

And finally how to get the trio of Foden/Khusonov/Bernardo to be a tad more fluid when attacking as a unit. Seems to stutter a bit when there's lots of space available to make and feed runs.

But doing a lot better all over the park. Fingers crossed for Sunday in a game where we might profit from being under pressure with space to counter into for Haaland, Foden and Doku.

Thought Rodders was very good

It’s good watching us perform again even if against 10 men

Foden hopefully returned to the player we know his link up play with Haaland is great to watch

Doku as really took it on this season

Defence is stronger and more in tune with each other

And Rodri is getting back to balon de or Rodri

And still waiting for Cherki, Marmoush and Stones to return

The big difference for me, is that when we are caught on the counter attack, I don’t think the opposition will score with their first shot on target.

There is just no way anyone is getting past Gigi …. roll on Sunday.
