Napoli post-match thread

Best team we have played all season. At times they were excellent when we pressed just tapping it round us reminiscent of how we do it against lesser teams.

Really good challenge and we deserved the 3 points. Some of our best football of the season in that first half an hour and some big performances from eddie the beast and stones to ensure the 3 points.

9 points from 9 and a solid win against the best team in Italy... I'll take that

Job done, was always gonna be tough, but tbf deapite them pressing us never felt threatened by them getting past us except in a dead ball situation.

Yet they could have been blown away had we been slightly more fortunate with those two cleared off the line. We also messed up a number of counter attacks.

Napoli were good but we aren't critiquing them in the same way that we do to ourselves. We overly criticise what we do while ignoring the minor details that their coach has got wrong. Indeed it took him 40 minutes to realise that he wasn't pressing with enough bodies.

He's clearly a good coach, but to say he's surpassed Guardiola is hilarious.

Not sure what Andrew has been drinking today other than it clearly effected his vision during the match.

Anybody who knows me knows I am the first to be critical of a city performance that is below par.

This one was good , the first half as good as any we have played since the takeover.

Fully deserved the win and it would have been daylight robbery for Napoli to get anything from this game.

I enjoyed that tonight. Brilliant first half, showed character second half against a really good side. Got the win & looking good to win the group now. We took the piss for the first 30 mins against currently one of the best sides in Europe.

I thought Stones & Otemendi were both really good tonight. Someone posted earlier in the thread that Fernandinho was poor, not sure what game they were watching, I thought he had another great game, he's been solid all season.

Napoli are better than any team in the Premier League- bar us.
Doubt anyone on here would be anything less than thrilled with a 2-1 home win over United, Cheslea, Spurs etc. So why are some people criticizing the team for a good win here?

That defensive triangle of
-----Ederson
Stones-Otamendi

won us the game with three flawless, world-class performances.

Very good win could have been all over first half if De Bruyne’s shot goes in off the crossbar and the g.jesus? one cleared off the line, but they settled a lot more and second half were far far better we still had chances but on each occasion the final ball was poor,on to Saturday and burnley..

Great win against tough Italian opposition and just about to qualify for the last 16 - again. So some players got tired... really? After the football they have been serving up recently that's hardly a surprise is it? I think Pep decided to play the same team, take a bit of a chance on fitness knowing that a win would (and probably has) secured qualification with the knowledge that he has 4-days till we play a decent, but hardly terrifying, Burnley side in the Prem. His gamble worked. I would expect some changes on Saturday, Kun, B Silva and Gundogan coming in maybe, freshen up the side and plough on.
