NAPS for Cheltenham

I'm going tomorrow as per usual, go every year on the first day. My highlight last year (other than a couple of winners) was seeing Steve McManaman and asking him if he could point me in the right direction.

Its been a strange build up, never known so many top horses get injured or have to be put down in the build up to the festival before. Certainly the Supreme and the Champion Hurdle tomorrow are the weakest they have been for a while.

I have always liked Limini, won a packet on her in the mares novice hurdle last year and backed her antepost to win the mares before she reappeared this year, beating Apples Jade readily and Ruby picking her over Vroum Vroum Mag has seen her come into fav but I'm on at 8s so happy days if she comes in, thats in the Mares Hurdle tomorrow. Also a horse I like is Yorkhill and expect him to win the JTL on Thursday , he's jumped a bit left so far over fences, but that shouldnt be an issue around Cheltenham as its a left handed course, but he's a very talented horse and beat the fav for the Champion Hurdle in the Neptune last year, expect him to win. One at a bigger price I expect to run a big race is Tin Soldier in the Albert Bartlett on Friday.

Good luck everyone.
Have a class day pal, you always seem to do well on day one so have followed a few of your tips. I'm flying to Poland in the morning for the week working so missing it all, absolutely gutted. Will have to just follow from the internet and got all my bets on now. Fingers crossed for tmrw.

Thanks mate, very nice of you to say.

I always go on day 1 and I've done OK over the years of going, never gone a day winless when I have been there so fingers crossed that continues, I certainly take nothing for granted, a few years I have had some amazing antepost bets on big favs at much bigger prices than their SP, that have not come in. Historically day 2 I have given most of it back, I'm certainly no tipping master, but I do ok in the Tipser. I do always study the fuck out of day 1, listen to all the stable tours, the interviews, podcasts etc in anticipation of going and usually pile into at least 1 horse, this year however its been harder with all the uncertainty. Saying that Limini is the one I would most like to win tomorrow.

Hope Poland is ok for you, shame you are missing the festival, hopefully your internet access is ok. Good luck anyway.

Limini beat up Apple Jade last out, she beat her readily Ruby didnt even touch her. Vroum Vroum Mag is a tough horse, she usually does just enough to win, but was quite poor last out, very hard to forget how poor she was. If they jump the last together VVM will probably win it but i dont think they will jump it together, well I hope they dont!! Willie has always been sweat on Limini for sure.

Cant believe Rich Ricci hasnt split them. Interesting race for sure.
Limini approaching Queen Quevega type odds now, still worth backing?

interesting that Pipe thinks Moon Racer is worth a craic in the champion hurdle. It isn't a particularly strong one. His form ties in with Ballyandy in the supreme who I think has a right chance of going in.

The supreme is a very poor race and if you are backing Melon it isn't on evidence of anything only it working well at home.

Form at the racecourse is a must for me to have a bet and Ballyandy and Moon Racer fit my profile of winners for both their races. I'll have an e/w double on it.

My only doubt is winning the champion bumper can be very tough on horses it takes a lot out of them

Have gone for The Druid's Nephew at nines in the Ultima for my main bet today, has won it before on this ground and this mark, fits the winning profile perfectly, unlike Noble Endeavour (too much weight).

What do I know? Fuck all on the basis of today, the only consolation is I didnt go big as I was so unsure about all of the races bar the mares, fair play to Apples Jade reversing that form.

Onwards and upwards.

On the plus side I saw Robbie from Arsenal fan TV, shook his hand and called him fam, which made him laugh, nice guy, hands like absolute shovels.

Great to see the Mares hurdle the 3 of Limini , Vroum Vroum Mag and Apples Jade going over the last hurdle in a line and battling up the hill for the win. Crazy to think Mullins would of been thinking I should be still training Apples Jade and of had a 1-2-3 in that race.
