We have no counter-attacking game away from home. We sit very deep and when the back four or de Jong break up play our outlets are slow. That's why we struggle to create chances. Against the other top six teams away from home we quite literally had about 6 shots on target in 450 minutes of football (and I'm not exaggerating!). Nasri is the sort of player who can pick the ball up of de Jong in our own half and in 6-8seconds be deep in their half winning free kicks, throw-ins, corners, be slipping Džeko a pass in to have a shot on goal or even having a shot himself after his run. Yaya Toure can do this but it's very sporadic as his athleticism doesn't allow him to recover quickly after a big run so it's infrequent. Nasri could do this for 80minutes and not be fatigued.bodak said:danburge82 said:Never judge the future of our football club off one game. We played that well in a few games last season but also had a season filled with average performances and the odd shite ones too. I reckon we'll be better this season than last but we'll still have those average and the odd shite performance too.salfordpaul said:he is coming imminently but i really wonder if we need him! my personal opinion after the swans game!
he has been looking at apartments in m/cr!
welcome anyway samir...join the revolution! can t wait to see bacon face in the media in the next few days when "his target" joins the noisy ones!!!
Plus we don't play like we did on Monday, and in many home games last season, away from home. We're a different team away from home.
I posted this earlier on the Bluemoon Forum:
"Think about what Nasri's strengths are:
speed, skill, ball carrying, dribbling, counter attacking, taking a team from defence to attack at pace, goal scoring from midfield, good passing........
Then remember these facts..
Premier League away from home against last seasons top half teams:
P9 W1 D2 L6 F6(4 of them at Fulham) A12 Pts5/27
Premier League away from home at the other top 6 clubs:
P5 W0 D2 L3 F1 A8 Pts2/15
Europa League away:
P5 W1 D2 L2 F3 A7
What do you think we had missing in these games? Yes someone with all the attributes that Nasri possess! Samir Nasri is the absolute number one player we need to make us a threat away from home against good teams."
Whilst the stats are quite interesting why exactly would Nasri change this (not saying he wouldnt but just asking)?
[WOW! Reading those stats back, we won just 2 out of them 19 away games!]
