Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy join Match of the Day

The spectacular summer of sport continues on BBC One as Gary Lineker and Colin Murray bring fans the full weekend's round up of Premier League action.

They return with Match of the Day (Saturday, 22:30 BST) and Match of the Day 2 (Sunday, 22:25 BST) in its new BBC One slot.

After a busy summer, Gary returns to his familiar home on Saturday nights with some new additions to the punditry line up.

Popular members of the BBC's Euro 2012 team Harry Redknapp and Mick McCarthy will appear alongside familiar faces Alan Hansen and Alan Shearer throughout the season.

Former Tottenham manager Redknapp and ex-Wolves boss McCarthy will bring their considerable managerial expertise and experience to the country's most popular football programme.

On Sunday, Colin will continue to bring his irreverent style to proceedings as he looks back at the day's games alongside a mix of these four big names - plus special guest pundits.
 
If Redknaps joining MOTD we really need to get a pools going for how many times he describes someone as a 'top player, top top player', and who he says had a chance to sign for whichever club he was sending under at the time.

'Arry has been in charge of Southampton, Portsmouth and Bournemouth all of whom went on to have financial problems. In fact it could be argued the all of Pompey's problems stem from 'Arry and his time there......
 
I don't mind Mick being on MotD, he normally tends to speak his mind. Redknapp is going to be a fucling pain to listen to.

Wish they'd get rid of the 2 dinosaurs in Hansen and Lawrenson

I quite like Mick Mac.

As you said, he speaks his mind and is very likeable, IMHO.

And as an added bonus, he is ex-City.

Redneck joining though, is an absolute nightmare. I can't stand the cockernee wide-boy.
 
I gave up listening to Harry Redknapp the second I started listening to Harry Redknapp. He's a bitter old fuck who holds a grudge against us.
