There's always collateral damage when a new coach comes in and you can't keep players on 1 and 2 year deals - partly because agents will push for longer deals and clubs are wary of players running their contracts down a la Milner. The club will have known that pushing some players out was inevitable this summer and even if we have to subsedise wages - it still represents a saving on our liabilities and most importantly it gets players away from the Club and allows Pep to build his team.

Not if he ends up in the Turkish league. If there are no takers there are no takers.

I suspect it's a matter of the wages for a player who's just come off a fairly serious muscle injury after having just returned from injury.

'With this injury I had to have an operation that resulted in nearly 100 stitches in my thigh. My surgeon told me this was a rare injury as the muscle had detached from the bone and the tendon was also 90 per cent detached and had to be stitched back together so it was something that doesn't happen very often.'

Nasri, 28, had only just returned from injury when the incident occurred during a training session. 'We had a session after the October international break and everything was going well,' he said.

'Then, right at the end I played a one-two with Fernando and the ball was a little bit behind me - we were playing two-touch - and I had the ball ready to shoot but I could see Aleks (Kolarov) coming from behind me.

'I hesitated before I shot and wasn't quite sure what I was going to do. I went for the shot and as soon as I did, I felt my leg going from under me with no challenge and I just screamed as I hit the ball, because the pain was so intense, and collapsed on the floor.'

As things stand, four have to go as they're surplus to requirements vis-a-vis the PL squad.

Of the five obvious candidates (Hart, Mangala, Nasri, Bony and Toure) Nasri is the one I'd prefer to keep.

On the other hand, capital one squad should be decent and fresh :-)

Are you kidding? What exactly would you have done in this situation? Do you actually think it is easy to sell Samir Fucking Nasri?

On the contrary, I think it's shocking how few suitors there are for Nasri. He's not in Peps plans for whatever reason; He's still a very, very good footballer. Whatever you think of his attitude and lifestyle off the pitch he is still capable of performing on it, with no less consistency than other players of similar ilk. In footballing terms I would put my house on him being plenty good enough to play in a Pep side. He's way better than fucking Besiktas.

If he is available, and it appears so, I find it staggering that better clubs are not declaring an interest. Maybe some clubs are waiting to pick him up as a last minute bargain next week. If a top club doesn't come in for him, that would make it suspicious.

I think it tells a lot about how Nasri is viewed by other clubs.

While talented he hasn't always shown the best work ethic, consistency, or positive influence in the locker room. Plus he hasn't had a very good injury record the last couple seasons. Add to that his high wages that most teams can't afford. Finally the teams that can afford his wages either don't need him or view him as too much of a risk based on the previous mentioned reasons.

He hasn't played football for getting on for a year,i would imagine that and his wages, pep can use him if he stays

Keep saying it if you want...but it looks like that is where he is going and there are no other takers. From a purely footballing perspective is he better than that Turkish league? Sure, but that is one of many issues that a club looks at when signing a player. Nasri--the entire package--is finding out what his level actually is after all the shit he has pulled throughout his career.
