He would play LB like Walker plays RB for us, in an inverted form. Or Laporte's backup as you said.

He looked weird playing so wide, he is not use to it and it isn't his strength at all, but the Dutch had no choice I guess.

Think you're spot on about him playing that inverted role, got a good feeling he'll really excel there.

Very similar gait to Kompany, will be a much needed threat at set pieces.

He's alright playing the ball side to side, but his forward passes leaves a lot to be desired .

I believe Aké will be used as left back when we face the best attacking teams as he’s our best option from a defensive standpoint. It’d be very hard for any team to penetrate a backfour of Aké - Laporte - Koulibaly - Walker.

We’ll probably also use him quite a bit as an option for Rodri when we need to up our speed in midfield. Think he would be excellent in midfield. Aké wins like 75% of all ground duels which is really impressive.

Don't think so, the majority of his appearances for the Dutch he has played left back.

He’s played 9 games at left back and 4 at centre back, but he’s spent more games on the bench. He’s not first choice in either position for the Oranje. Be interesting to see how we use him.

Who's he competing with at left back?
