Was at Manchester last week with wife from Aberdeen to watch Villa match. Went to the national Football Museum for the first time since 2013, and was very disappointed. For £14 I thought it was a bit of a let-down. Obviously run by Rags as there’s certainly more about United and hardly anything about City. There was more mentions of women’s footy than City. I mean with about 150 years of the league football to highlight the exhibits shown were copies of newspaper articles, which I thought was piss poor. I do voluntary work as a museum tour guide at the Gordon Highlanders Regiment Museum here in Aberdeen, and our museum is in a much smaller location but our curator has made the exhibits informative and interesting. In the NFM the hologram of Gary Linekar meeting Sir Geoff Hurrst is outdated as it still says Hurst is the only player to score a hat trick in a WC final, but Mbappe did it in 2022. I mean when I went the place was mobbed with parents/grandparents and kids so they’re not interested in my viewpoint but I just think it should be a better experience overall.

Last time I went to this museum they had an old exhibit of and football claiming it to be the one played during the WW1 Christmas truce between British and German soldiers, but that’s not there anymore. Highly unlikely there was an actual football game played then anyway.

I think I’ve twice. “Free” but asked for a donation both times. On the second visit, £5 got me a photo with both domestic cups.

£14 isn’t on. I’d expect a guided tour by Peter Beardsley and a goodie bag at the price.

Edit: £14 for two adults? £7 each? That’s a little more reasonable.

No, £14 per person.
