NBC Advert For The Manchester Derby

NBC (who have the Premier League rights in the US) have been showing this advert all weekend during their excellent ''soccer'' coverage.

What is the tune with the advert? Been bugging me but just can't place it ;)

Was this music also not used on a former USA TV series called Charmed ?

They used a dodgy emo version of it and I'm wincing just thinking about it. You can't improve on perfection.

Yes, a band fronted by the former Psychedelic Furs singer. And if you think hat was bad, I take it you never heard the Russian lesbian Tatu's version! Awful. But netted Morrissey & Marr around 500k thank you very much.

Heh, I actually went deep youtubing (continuously following one link after another) looking for other covers and came across that Tatu one, which I had downloaded about 12 years ago - it must have got mixed up with the much larger image downloads folder I had of them... It was soulless crap, yep.

As for the Charmed version, I listened to that again after posting and thought it actually wasn't all bad, except for the singer! Whatever his pedigree, he is trying way too hard on that.

This is the problem with Americans trying to do football. Not only do they know nothing about it, I mean calling it Soccer....come on but they know nothing about music.

They could have at least picked a Manchester band to promote the match, someone like The Farm ......
