Ndombele (signed for Spurs)

As long as it isn’t the ‘Octupus’.

That was the Porto fans tbf...
This lad really did play out of his skin against us from what I've seen tbh, as did the entire Lyon team, it was their (two legged) cup final and we weren't at full intensity. I think people would be disappointed if we signed him.

Didn’t play out of his skin at all. He’s dominated the PSG midfield every time he’s faced them

It was, but I couldn’t resist bringing up our eight-legged (and didn’t it show on the pitch) legend. ;-)

And he has been a mixed bag from my (admittedly limited) viewing; he has shifted wildly between looking Dinho-esque against us, Marseille, and Hoffenheim, to looking Fernando-esque against Shakhtar, PSG, and the likes of Rennes. Not sure I have watched him enough to make a real judgment on quality, but what I have seen doesn’t make me overly eager to proclaim him Diho’s heir apparent.

It's what puts me off him, the one thing Dinho is above all others is consistent and we need that consistency in that position as it's the base for everything we do. If we want someone for that role who can be utterly amazing in one game and anonymous in another we've already got Gundogan.

I take it you missed him getting his arse handed to him by Marquinhos and Veratti in October then?
Watched the game, and he was by far Lyon`s best player. The poor result was due to some shocking defending by Morel and Denayer. He was playing great and even got Kimpembe a red card because no one could stop him. He`s not clumsy at all, his ball control and dribbling is amazing, and he`s quick and athletic. Name me a better U23 DM in the world. I`ll wait

He was out of position and not shielding his defence at all for goals 1,2 and 4. Veratti continually took him out of the game with one touch.
Ndidi, Lerma, Hendrix, Llorente, the fucker at Mainz, the other midfielder at Lyon, Veratti, Gueye...

Tousart got a red card, and they were lacking a man in midfield for 70 mins. Ndombele made several interceptions and tackles that game, but he was obviously told to contribute more offensively, so there were huge gaps behind him (that Tousart should originally have covered) and PSG scored goals on the counter. There`s no way you could have seen that game. Verratti didn`t take him out of the game at all.
Gueye turns 30 this year and Verratti is 4 years older. Ndidi, Lerma, Hendrix or Llorente isn`t close to Ndombele`s level at all. And Aouar is an attacking midfielder/left winger (played DM like twice)

Oh, Lyon had a man sent off. I didn't realise they were at a disadvantage against the 10 men of PSG.
Didn't realise Gueye's age, for the others, how many times have you seen them play?

Regardless, Ndombele is far too haphazard and inconsistent to replace Dinho.

I`ve seen Ndidi and Lerma several times this season, and Llorente a couple times last season. Haven`t seen anything of Hendrix, but there`s no way that an unknown player in the Eredivisie is better than Ndombele who`s been excellent against PSG and us several times
Don`t think there`s a better U23 DM in Europe than Ndombele, what games have you seen since he`s inconsistent?
