Ndombele (signed for Spurs)

I thought he played well against us in the CL, I liked him, but if we’re not in for him there must be a good reason.

From what I'm hearing on another thread it may be because the Rodri deal is close or done.

Think people are really put off by the French league. And tbf Ndombele does have a rawness about him... But I think that is also one of his assets in terms of long term potential.

There's a likeness to Yaya with him, both in skill and in consolidation of movement. He could be awesome, but also awful, if his lack of movement is exposed. Just like Yaya.

I'm not sure we need to take that risk anymore and we'll go for a more mobile team cog, rather than someone who can turn it on when it suits.

I've thought similiar. He was brilliant against us in Lyon. However, watching him carefully I've seen him tire towards the end of matches or within a frenetic game. He is an excellent passer but it seemed to go a bit ropey as he tires.

He's by no means a real slouch though from what I've seen but your right about his mobility, its not like fern. However, I think he is strong and intelligent player.

People a bit in danger of being carried away by seeing him in two — two — good games that happened to be against us.
He's terribly inconsistent. He had plenty of poor games in the league last season, along with a number of good ones. When he's good he's very good, but when he's bad he seems to go to sleep altogether. Think Aymeric Laporte against Spurs and then cube it, and you get some idea. Just not good enough for us overall, I fear.

That was his problem is in former club. He admitted he didn't have the right mentality. He had troubles in two of his previous club. He said he didn't like to defend but now he has understood he needed to change to make a career.
Imo, his talent is not in question. It is all in his head. He almost always puts on big performances against big opposition (it was a problem for all Lyon players though, good against big sides and sloppy against poor sides). The big question mark would be if his future coach thinks he can teach him to give his all consistently, even against minor sides.

Sounds like he’s be a liability in the Derby.

Probably not for us but I think he would improve Spurs midfield under Potch.
