Nedum Onouha

I have read somewhere that Mancini is keen for Onuoha to stay and that he would be prepared to give him his chance in pre-season friendlies. Good news, he would be a great back-up defender however I cannot see him getting ahead of Richards, Vinny, Zabaleta or Lescott in the defence so he would have to accept a back-up role.

Just taking it a bit further, if we didn't sign a player during the summer and we wanted to keep others players we sent out on loan who would want to fight for their place at City rather than be sold our 2nd eleven could look something like this:-

...................................Given (Says happy to stay at City)

Boyata...................Ned...........Kolo..........Zabaletta

...................................Vierra..............................

AJ................................Milner.................Bellamy

.........................Dzeko..................Ade

And our 25 man squad would look like this

Hart (A)
Given (A)
Taylor (A)

Zabaletta (F)
Richards (H)
Kolo (F)
Lescott (A)
Onouha (H)
Kompany (F)
Kolorov (F)

Vierra (F)
NDJ (F)
Barry (A)
Johnson M (H)
Johnson A (A)
Silva (F)
Yaya (F)
Milner (A)
SWP ( H)

Tevez (F)
Ade (F)
Bellamy (A)
Dzeko (F)
Jo (F)
(24 man squad) plus

Balotelli, and Boyata under 21 therefore on B list who wouldn't count.
We would have 4 homegrown players (H)
We would have at least 8 Association players (H) + (A) or just (A)
We would still have room for one more player without needing to ship anyone out. This presumes that Bridge leaves. If however Boetang doesn't leave there is still a place for him but that would take us to the maximum 25 squad limit. All our EDS kids under 21 could be included in addition to the above.

With a further year together and the loan players being under no allusion as to who is in charge or what is expected, if they put in the 100% needed I believe that squad is capable of challenging on all fronts, without spending a penny.

I'm fine with giving Ned another chance but I watched that Soccer AM interview live and Ned (without being asked to) not only had a go at Mancini but defended Ireland against Mancini. I can remember watching it at the time and thinking Ned, for an intelligent bloke, you've not done yourself any favours there. Even the interviewers were taken aback. It was definitely not a bit of a laugh.

Just setting the record straight as I remember it.

But surely every dog is allowed one bite. So long as he apologises to Roberto, then I see no problem...unless RM is as determined as he has been where Bellamy and Adebayor are concerned. By determined, I mean stubborn.

Yes agree with you. It just seemed like some were saying he hadn't done much wrong in the first place whereas I felt he had crossed the line. Baconface would not have put up with it and I don't think Bob will (rightly or wrongly I think he has a long memory)

there was a stage in 09/10 where nedum and micah were level pegging in terms of ability and potential to stake a place in the team, and fellow city fans were calling for him ahead of richards if one were to be sold. i seem to remember from then on mancini picked richards out of the two and transformed him into the ever improving player we see today whilst nedum seemed to slip off the belt and then the whole soccer a.m debacle saw him shipped out. if he can somehow find his way back, given bobbys record of improving defenders (kolo zabs richards lescott and vinnie to a ridiculous level.) then i genuinely believe we will see nedum rise to the level that micah has and way beyond as his technical ability is in mancini's desired region and streets ahead of the likes of lescott, and his speed is phenomenal once he's fully fit.

he would be twice the player cahill would be for us

I read somewhere today that Nedum has recently snubbed a 6 mill transfer to Sunderland and wants instead to fight for his City place and win over Mancini to his cause. Good news, if true. He still has much potential, so long as he controls his verbage. An Englishman too...he might be aware that Boateng allegedly wants to leave.
fair play to the lad
