makes me laugh the problem aint the defence its playing players who cant run .In that team yesterday you had demichellis 37 cant run yaya in central midfield legs av gone kolorov left back but left wing sso in affect you have mangala and demi getting exsposed .when delph came on he covered kolorovs runs and tucked in and fernandinio more mobile so less pressure on defence.get clichy in at left back and kompany and otta together then delph and fernandiniho and theres no gaps .

Nah. Denayer in to replace Demi at the end of the season. Kompany & Otamendi are great, Mangala can do it but needs someone to hold his hand (Kompany) & Denayer is from what I've read (sadly not seen too much myself) very promising. Hoping it's just the Mangala/Demichelis partnership that is such a disaster & hopefully we won't see that again.

Demichelis and Mangala were fine at the end of last season bud. It was just a bad day at the office, the own goal set the tone unfortunately.

Chelsea were OK last season too. Sure, bad day that exaggerated how poor they looked, but still our weakest pairing IMO.

They had 6 clean sheets or something like that on the trot last year. Demichelis has dropped off a bit as you'd expect but Mangala was fantastic at the start of this season, he's a good defender and he'll only improve. Just a bad day at the office after an international break and before a CL game, not like that hasn't happened before.

Yep, hence why I said Demi to leave & Mangala to stay at the end of this season. A 4 of Kompany, Mangala, Otamendi & Denayer should be fine.

Denayer won't come back I don't think because he was promised we wouldn't sign anymore defenders if he signed a new contract and as soon as he signed we bought otamendi

Big mistake letting Denayer go on loan and keeping Demi. I know Demi had a good end to the season but we need to know and accept when players are at the end of their careers and that includes Yaya now as well. You need energy and speed in the Prem. now and we have an ageing squad. I think all our full backs now are 30 or over. Not to get carried away but we need two new full backs and ultimately someone to replace Yaya.

I know MP's hands have been tied by Vinnie's injury's to some extent, but of just like to see a consistent back four for a few months. I have a feeling that days like the Liverpool game (not the only one) are down to lack of cohesion as much as individual failings.
